Heavy or long vehicle parking
Heavy or long vehicles cannot be parked on a road in a built-up area for longer than one hour unless:
- parking signs say that it is allowed, or
- the driver is picking up or setting down goods.
Heavy or long vehicles are in excess of 4.5 tonne gross vehicle mass (GVM) and in excess of 7.5 metres in length.
The gross vehicle mass (GVM) of a vehicle is the gross weight of the vehicle including the actual weight of the vehicle and its maximum carrying capacity.
For further information about road rules for heavy or long vehicles, visit the trucks page on the Vicroads website.
See heavy vehicle access for information about access by heavy vehicles to Merri-bek's road network.
