Moreland Libraries Advisory Committee

The Merri-bek Libraries Advisory Committee (MorLAC) advises Council on library matters and performance.

A Councillor and twelve community representatives are members of the committee.

Moreland citizens who wish to raise any issues in relation to the library service are invited to contact the Merri-bek Libraries Advisory Committee through Council.

A selection of highlights from The Merri-bek City Libraries Annual Report 2015-16 (PDF 316Kb) which were presented at the February meeting are available for viewing.

Library policies

The resources and services of Merri-bek's library service are for the benefit and use of the whole community.

Council has a range of policies to maximise the efficient operation of services and to make sure everybody can access materials and services.

Rights and responsibilities of library members

Access to membership of the library service and the rights and obligations of members are in the Library Use Policy (DOC 66Kb).

Library loans

Policies on the loan of resources including the number of items which may be borrowed, the length of time that something can be borrowed and any charges associated with lending of items or use of facilities are outlined in the Library Loans Policy (DOC 70Kb).

Library collections and resources

The range of library collections and resources is outlined in the Library Selection and Collection Development Policy (DOC 168Kb)

Using the internet and checking email

Guidelines for public use of internet and printing facilities are in the Computer, Internet, Wireless, Printing and Photocopy Conditions for Public Use  (DOC 82Kb).

Library Service Strategy

The Library Services Strategy 2019 is based on the outcomes of a strategic review of Merri-bek’s library service that was undertaken in 2018. The review included consultation with the community and with a range of stakeholders.

This strategy provides clear directions and priorities for the continuing development of our library service.
