Bolinda Borrow Box has fiction and non-fiction for all ages with some great Australian content. Also includes eaudiobooks. Overdrive eBooks has fiction and non-fiction for everyone from the latest releases to timeless classics. Now includes eaudiobooks.

What are eBooks?

These are books in digital format that you can download to a computer, laptop, tablet, eReader or smartphone.

Library eBook suppliers

The libraries use two eBook suppliers, which both include a wide range of fiction and non-fiction for adults, teens and children. Some titles are held on both platforms so make sure you check both!

Bolinda Borrow Box eBooks
To read Borrow Box eBooks on smartphones or tablets you need to download the free BorrowBox mobile app. You can borrow or reserve up to a total of 10 ebooks at a time.
Loans are now for two weeks instead of three, but you can renew your loans up to 4 times. eAudiobooks are also available on this site.

Overdrive eBooks
Read online or offline. Downloads in a variety of formats. Check out the great new app Libby. You can borrow up to 6 ebooks at a time and reserve up to two. Loans are for three weeks. Now includes simultaneous loan ebooks with no waiting list!

How to borrow a library eBook

Moreland City Libraries has purchased a range of eBooks that you can download for free.

  1. Browse or search our eBook supplier websites directly to borrow items. You can also search the Moreland library catalogue for titles, but availability may not be up-to-date.
  2. Click the 'borrow' button below a title to borrow the eBook.
  3. When prompted, enter your member card number e.g. A2000301xxxxxxxB. This is the number printed on your Merri-bek City Libraries member card.
  4. Enter your password, which is your date of birth in eight numbers ddmmyyyy

To read an eBook on your device or computer, you may need to download special software. The Help pages on the supplier sites explain the software you need.

Library eBooks cannot be downloaded to Kindles.

Renewing and returning an eBook

You can renew eBooks from your Borrowbox or Overdrive account. You can also return eBooks early.

You can also download or read eBooks online for free from some internet sites.

Project Gutenberg
Over 40,000 out-of-copyright titles to read online or download in different file formats.

Open Culture
Great classic titles to read online or download in different file formats.
Authors include Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.

Many books
Over 29,000 titles to read online or download in a wide range of file formats.
Titles include Crime and Punishment, Anne of Green Gables and The Art of War.

Internet Archive
Wide range of fiction, children's books, historic texts and academic books.

Google Books
Preview books and download PDFs of out-of-copyright titles. 

University of Pennsylvania
Over a million books to read online.  Mostly American academic and historic titles.

Bartleby
Classic American literature and some reference works. Includes King James Bible. Online reading only.
