Merri-bek Summer Show 2019: Language & Liberty

The Counihan Gallery In Brunswick is pleased to announce the 3rd Noel Counihan Commemorative Art Award as part of the annual Merri-bek Summer Show.

To be awarded annually, the Noel Counihan Commemorative Art Award will recognise an outstanding contemporary artwork by an artist who engages with social, political, cultural or environmental subjects. This award is open to artists who live, work, study or base their studio practice in the municipality of Merri-bek.

Each year artists are asked to respond to an exhibition theme. This year's exhibition theme is: LANGUAGE & LIBERTY

The Noel Counihan Commemorative Art Award is a tailored professional development package to the value of $3,000.

In addition, we are delighted to announce a People’s Choice Award of $1000, generously sponsored by the Sydney Road Brunswick Association (SRBA).

A Peers’ Choice Award to the value of $250 is sponsored by much-loved independent bookstore, Brunswick Bound
