True Estate: Beau Emmett, Julie Davies and Elvis Richardson

True Estate: Beau Emmett, Julie Davies and Elvis Richardson

A True Estate Project

Exhibition: Friday 12 October – Sunday 11 November

Opening Thursday 11 October, 6 – 8 pm

True Estate is an exhibition exploring the personal, social and paranormal aspects of “the home”. Drawing on the themes being explored through the gallery project of the same name run by artists Beau Emmett, Elvis Richardson, and Julie Davies, True Estate reconfigures how we value functional household objects and invest meaning into the bric-a-brac that amasses in one’s life.

True Estate is based on a true story, of absence and presence, imagined and real in the private spaces of our home.

The works in this show will also touch upon ways we identify with the right to experience the quiet enjoyment of private space are cultural and political, prompting the polarised cultural anxiety around access to affordable and secure housing in Australia today, particularly for low-income earners like artists.
