Call for 2022 exhibition applications
The call for proposals is now open for the 2022 exhibition program at the Counihan Gallery and will close at 5pm, Friday 2 July 2021.
Artists and curators are invited to submit proposals for projects that can be developed and achieved in 2022. The gallery welcomes proposals from artists from all cultural backgrounds that meet the selection criteria and align with the Gallery’s objectives.
The Counihan Gallery plans to be a Human Rights Arts and Film Festival (HRAFF) venue partner in 2022 and invites proposals with strong links to human rights and associated social or political issues that might be considered as a festival exhibition in the month of April.
We are pleased to advise it is now free to exhibit at the Counihan Gallery.
A free Information Session explaining the Counihan Gallery exhibition application process will be held at the gallery on Wednesday 28 April at 6pm followed by a Q&A session. Last year’s Facebook Live event can be watched on our Facebook videos page.

It's not always easy to remember the layout of our gallery from home or the studio. Now you can explore Gallery 1 and 2 in 3D. You can even add your works to the space to see how they will look using online modelling platform SketchUp. Download the SketchUp file and create a SketchUp free account to get started.
Call for Merri-bek Summer Show 2021 proposals
Held at the end of each year, the Merri-bek Summer Show is open to all artists who live, work, study or base their studio practice in Moreland. Eligible artists are invited to submit one work which responds to the selected exhibition theme.
This year’s theme is History & Heritage, which we think has an incredible potential to resonate with everyone and prompt an array of responses.
Each year one entry is selected by a panel of judges for the Noel Counihan Commemorative Art Award, a professional development package of $3000.
A People’s Choice Award selected by visitors of $1000 is announced at the end of the exhibition.
A Peers' Choice Award voted for by participating artists is sponsored by Brunswick Bound independent bookstore, a book pack valued at $250.

Applicants must be interested in working together with gallery staff on an agreed project while also learning the day-to-day operations of the gallery.
