Light globes
Fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent light globes (CFLs) contain mercury and should not be disposed of in your garbage bin.
A range of light globes are included in the State Government e-waste to landfill ban, including:
- fluorescent lamps
- high intensity
- discharge lamps
- compact fluorescent lamps
- LEDs
You can recycle the above listed light globes for free through the Detox Your Home program. Take them to one of the Detox Your Home permanent sites located at:
- Banyule Waste Recovery Centre, Waterdale Road, Bellfield,
- Darebin Resource Recovery Centre, Kurnai Avenue, Reservoir, and
- Moonee Valley Transfer Station, Holmes Road, Alberfeldie.
Alternatively you can drop them off at a recycling station at your nearest Council Customer Service Centre.
