Maternal and Child Health centre visits
When to visit the Maternal and Child Health Service
The Maternal Child and Health Service offers 10 free visits to review your child's health, growth and development at key ages and stages.
It is recommended that all children visit your Maternal and Child Health centre for assessment at:
- 2, 4 and 8 weeks
- 4, 8, 12 and 18 months, and
- 2 years and 3.5 years.
If you have concerns you are also welcome to contact the Maternal and Child Health Service phone 9240 1111 or email Maternal and Child Service.
You can use the Council Language Link service if you need to arrange a telephone interpreter.
My Health and Development Record
Remember to always bring this book to each Maternal and Child Health Centre appointment.
The hospital where you had your baby will provide you with My Health and Development Record (previously known as your Child Health Record or the 'blue book').
Your Maternal and Child Health Nurse will record your child's milestones, health, growth, development and immunisations in this book.
At particular stages there will be more specific assessments, including those related to hearing and vision.
