Breastfeeding support
Support from your Maternal and Child Health Nurse
Merri-bek Maternal and Child Health Service offers free support and information to parents about breastfeeding and formula feeding.
After the birth of your baby, a Maternal and Child Health Nurse will visit your home. This is an opportunity for the nurse to help you with breastfeeding.
All Maternal and Child Health Nurses have experience in providing advice and support with breast and formula feeding. Some of our nurses have also completed International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) training.
If you need further assistance after your home visit, you can
- phone your nurse,
- make an appointment with your Maternal and Child Health nurse or
- attend a breastfeeding clinic.
