Commercial Tenancy Relief SchemeThe Victorian Government has announced a Commercial Tenancy Relief scheme to alleviate financial hardship faced by tenants and landlords as a result of COVID-19. This includes a six-month moratorium on commercial tenancy evictions, a six-month freeze on rent increases for commercial tenants, a rental payment waiver or deferral and a mediation service for commercial tenants and landlords to support fair tenancy negotiations. Industry Coordination and Questions
For those businesses and industries that fall into grey areas when it comes to their operation, the dedicated Industry Coordination Centre within the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions will consider their case. Call 1300 366 356.
As of 11.59pm on Wednesday August 5, workplaces in Melbourne must be closed unless the workplace is part of a permitted activity, or all employees are working from home.
Employers that require their staff to attend a work site must issue a worker permit to their employees – this is the employer’s responsibility. Heavy penalties apply to those who do not meet the criteria. Click here for permits and more information.
