Accessible business
About one in five Victorians have a disability. Accessible business is good business.
Also, under the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992, your business is legally obliged to ensure ease of access for people of all abilities.
Accessibility is broader than structural changes such as ramps and wider aisles, it includes a range of things from training your staff on how to accommodate the needs of everyone, the font you choose for your menus and website, how you display your product and where you place your signage.
Improving access does not have to be expensive. Council has produced a Good Access is Good Business guide with practical tips to assist businesses in how to be accessible.
