Parklet Program
What is a Parklet?
Parklets are re-purposed parking bays which are designed to create spaces for pedestrian activity. Parklet setups could contain things like seating, tables, greenery and bike parking facilities. Although parklets are maintained by hosts, they are public space for the community to enjoy.
Who can host a Parklet?
Anyone in the Merri-bek community can host a Parklet. This site needs to be located on a Council owned road, signed less than 50km/hr. For more information on site requirements, check out the Merri-bek Parklet Program guidelines (PDF 4Mb) .
Can I try the idea before I invest in my own setup?
Yes you can! Short term installations run for 6 months. They run from July to January and then from January to July each year to ensure each site experiences both cool and warmer weather. The setup is made of Council owned parklet furniture which is hired out to give hosts an opportunity to try the idea before investing in the Long term stream.
If you are interested in hosting a short term parklet, please complete the form below or contact us directly at parklets@moreland.vic.gov.au

* Fees are subject to annual budget changes. Correct as of July 2019.
I'd like to design and build my own setup, can I do that?
Yes you can. Hosts can apply to have their own semi-permanent Parklet installations as part of the Long Term stream. Hosts can design, construct and maintain their setup within the Parklet Guidelines. The parklet can be installed in a parking space out the front of the business for 1 year with the option to renew the permit annually.
