Spry Street, Coburg North - Park development

In 2018, Council purchased the property at Number 2 Spry Street Coburg North, to provide new open space, create an accessible Disability Discrimination Act Compliant (DDA) path to the Merri Creek shared trail and increase land adjacent to the Merri Creek corridor.

The first stage, which was to clean up the site and making it safe for public access was completed in November 2019. This allowed for temporary access from the end of Spry st to the Merri Creek using the unsealed former driveway that was originally on the site.

At the December 2019 Council meeting, funding was allocated in the 20/21 financial year for the construction of the DDA compliant path.  Council has engaged a suitable contractor and demolition and construction works have now begun and should be completed by the end of May2021.  Access to the Merri Creek shared trail from Spry st will be closed during major construction works and reopened at the end of each working day and on weekends.

Following the completion of the path to the shared trail, Council plans to subdivide the property and sell the existing dwelling.  Please see the attached concept plan (PDF 5Mb) for further information.
