Martin Reserve, Hadfield - Play space upgrade
The playspace and gathering space at Martin Reserve has been upgraded this year, as Council continues to implement the Merri-bek Play Strategy 2016-20 (PDF 2Mb). This proposed upgrade focuses on the playspace and surrounding parkland area.
This upgrade has included fitness equipment, a circular concrete path with interval ground markers and various pedestrian access paths and pram crossings. Fencing has been replaced throughout the reserve with more attractive park fencing and pedestrian gate entries near the playspace.
Two drinking fountains have been provided - one near the BBQ area by the playspace, the other near the netball courts.
Construction
Council has managed to secure additional funding to include a shelter over the picnic setting in the gathering space near the playspace. This will be installed in late April 2021.
Council's Open Space team will also be installing the trees and shrubs around the playspace during April 2021, when the weather has cooled.
