Ronald Street Footbridge over Edgars Creek, Coburg North - Construction works
Background
The footbridge across Edgar’s Creek near Ronald Street, Coburg North was damaged beyond repair by a flood event in late December 2016.
Council removed all parts of the damaged bridge and engaged a consultant to undertake a feasibility study to investigate options for a replacement bridge and/or formalised path on the west side of Merri Creek linking into Kodak Bridge.
The key requirements for any new or replacement bridge are expressed by Melbourne Water. Melbourne Water is the statutory authority with legal responsibility for all waterways in metropolitan Melbourne and provides the minimum standards for new bridges over its waterways. With this in mind, Melbourne Water’s influence on the bridge design is significant.
