Glenroy Skate Park - Landscape plan implementation

Background

In 2013 Merri-bek City Council acquired approximately 1.8ha of land formally known as the Northern Golf Driving Range on Glenroy Road, Glenroy (west of Sewell Reserve).

On 10 February 2016 Council endorsed the Northern Golf Course Driving Range as the preferred site for the Glenroy Skate Park, after extensive analysis of various sites across Glenroy.

After extensive consultation with the local community, the Glenroy Skate Park landscape plan (PDF 178Kb) was endorsed by Council in July 2017.

Stage 1 of the project saw the successful completion of the new Glenroy Skate Park in January 2018.

Stage 2 of the project focused on landscaping improvement around the skate park including a ping pong table, climbing wall, walking paths, additional seating, tree planting and a new car park on the western end of the site. Outdoor fitness equipment is yet to be installed, and will be referred to future funding opportunities.

Lions Club of Glenroy - 100 years celebration

Along side the skate park, a new resting spot was built on Glenroy Road in celebration of 100 years of Lions International. Council worked with the Glenroy Lions Club of Glenroy to install a new drink fountain and seat for the community.
