Westbreen Creek Conservation and Development Plan
Background
In May 2019 Council endorsed the Conservation and Development Plan (PDF 14Mb) for the Westbreen Creek open space corridor between the Northern Golf Course (Glenroy Road, Glenroy) and the confluence with the Moonee Ponds Creek in Pascoe Vale.
This includes KW Joyce Reserve, Gavin Park, Austin Crescent Reserve and Payne Reserve.
The Westbreen Creek Conservation and Development Plan (PDF 14Mb) aims to protect and enhance existing environmental and heritage values while planning park and amenity upgrades to improve public access and enjoyment of the open space. It includes a range of opportunities such as new wetlands, park and play upgrades, new paths and targeted revegetation.
Council worked with a number of key stakeholders to prepare the draft, including Melbourne Water, the Northern Golf Course, Pascoe Vale Girls College and Friends of Moonee Ponds Creek.
The draft, including the summary document (PDF 4Mb) was available for community review during December 2018 and January 2019, with drop in style consltation session held during January 2019. A summary of the feedback (PDF 151Kb) was prepared including the edits and amendments made to the draft Plan following the consultation process.
Council endorsement and next steps
The revised draft was endorsed by Council at the May 2019 meeting. Implementation will now commence in a staged and incremental manner over the next decade with opportunities for external grant funding sought to assist in delivery (Implementation Schedule (PDF 138Kb)).
