Coburg City Oval - Landscaping works (Stages 2 and 3)

Project background

Council endorsed the Coburg City Oval Precinct Landscape Master Plan following the successful conclusion of community consultation in December 2014, to improve community access to this open space in Coburg.

The initial phase of Coburg City Oval - Landscaping works (Stage 1), has opened up Coburg City Oval for greater community access. Completed in November 2015, it created a newly landscaped western edge with generous access provided to the Oval through the installation of operable fencing and gates. This improves circulation and connectivity while preserving the capacity of the Oval for holding ticketed events.

Stages 2 and 3 were completed in 2019, with redesign of existing public areas that will see improvements all around the oval to provide greater access, increase amenity and recreation opportunities within the precinct. The Draft City Oval Landscape Concept Redesign for Stages 2 and 3 (PDF 1Mb) has been prepared and is available for information.

Stages 1 - 3 are now complete.

Stage 4

The final stage of City Oval Landscaping has been deferred in antipation of the pavilion upgrade. Stage 4 will see improvements to public access areas adjoining the new pavilion and grandstand in the south western portion of City Oval.
