Oxygen Youth Facility - Development (Stages 2 - 4)
Location
4-8 Gaffney Street, Coburg North
Project background
Oxygen Youth Space is Merri-bek's first youth centre and is a place for young people to hang out, meet friends, learn new skills and participate in a range of activities.
The centre was originally built as part the Merri-bek City Council Oxygen Project.
The current spaces include:
- e-lounge
- kitchenette
- meeting space, and
- multipurpose activity space, which is also set up at a music rehearsal and DJ room.
This project implemented stages 2 to 4 of the Oxygen building masterplan, expanding the centre and creating new spaces and services for young people in Merri-bek.
The expansion allowed the centre to have a multipurpose room, internal courtyard, kitchen and an office space for youth in Merri-bek to access throughout the week.
The project contributes to the overall wellbeing of the community and provides a safe and interactive space for young people to socialise, learn – and access information and services, all under one roof.
