G E Clarke Reserve, Glenroy - Park upgrade

ge clarke reserve

Project overview

Located in Kalang Road, Glenroy, the play space at G E Clarke Reserve was selected for upgrading with funding allocated from Council's capital works program.

The project included new play equipment, park furniture, fencing, access path, signage and additional tree planting for shade, all subject to funding and consultation.

Stages of the projects

Community consultation - complete

Local residents were invited to provide feedback on the Draft concept plan for G E Clarke Reserve project prepared in November 2016.

Concept and construction - complete

G E Clarke Reserve Project Draft Concept Plan illustrated the ways in which the upgrading transforms the existing playground, through installation of exciting new play equipment and retention of some play pieces that are serviced and brightened up with a fresh coat of paint.

This extended the variety of play opportunities for a broad range of ages, along with the addition of an area for nature play featuring natural materials and space for imaginative play.

Complementing this new play space, park seating was installed as well as a shaded picnic area with table and benches, plus installation of a drink fountain with tap and dog dish. Planting of native and deciduous trees added to the improved appearance of the park as well as providing increased shade to the existing tree canopy.

Budget

The total budget for this play space upgrade is $80,000.
