CB Smith Sport and Education Facility - Project works

The new CB Smith Sport and Education Facility at 79 - 83 Jukes Road, Fawkner, was officially opened on Friday 6 March 2015.

Project overview

The facility is Council’s municipal soccer venue and is the principal sporting and education facility for John Fawkner College and local soccer clubs.

The complex includes two new pitches, including a premier pitch, a new grandstand, function room, change rooms and media room, and also serves as an innovative learning space.

During the school day it is used by John Fawkner College students for physical education classes and senior sports
pathway programs.

The complex is also used by the State League Club Fawkner Soccer Club and as a training venue for John Fawkner College’s Football Academy, which is affiliated with A-League club Melbourne City.

Budget

The CB Smith Sports and Education Centre was funded through contributions of $1 million from the Department of Education, $100,000 from Sports and Recreation Victoria and $5.3 million from Merri-bek City Council.
