Campbell Reserve - New public toilet facility

Campbell Reserve public toilets finishedProject overview

Campbell Reserve is located off Moore Street, East Coburg and hosts the Merri-bek City Soccer Club and the Coburg Cricket Club.

The reserve has a children’s playground and is a popular walking path from Merri-bek Road south to the north to Moore Street.

The Moreland Public Toilet Strategy (DOC 622Kb) aims to provide safe, accessible, clean and environmentally sustainable public toilets across the municipality. It includes public toilet locations, opening hours, design type and maintenance.

The Campbell Reserve public toilet was in poor condition with cracks in the walls and movement of the concrete floor. There was also ongoing vandalism and undesirable activities. A recommendation was made to demolish the male and female toilet blocks and replace with a new toilet facility in a new location.

The prefabricated public toilet gives maximum level of security and at the same time providing a high standard of hygiene, meeting the relevant BCA standards, with adherence to all requirements stated in AS1428.2 and Disability (Access to Premises – Buildings) Standards 2010.

The toilets are open from dawn to dusk via a solar powered locking system. The roof catchment area provides water to the tank (2000 litre) for the cistern flushing.

The new toilet facility was open to the public on 26 June 2015.
