West Street, Hadfield public toilet

West Street public toiletProject overview

The Merri-bek Council Public Toilet Strategy (DOC 622Kb) aims to provide safe, accessible, clean and environmentally sustainable public toilets across the municipality. The strategy includes guidance on public toilet locations, opening hours, design principles and maintenance.

The West Street Village shopping precinct was identified as an area with a need for a public toilet facility. Consultation was undertaken with traders, surrounding residents and Council’s Strategic Transport, Urban Design and Building Projects teams to determine the preferred site location.

The automated public toilet installed in the West Street Village shopping precinct provides a maximum level of security, a high standard of hygiene and meets the relevant BCA (Building Code of Australia) requirements whilst adhering to the Disability (Access to premises – buildings) Standards 2010.
