Celebrating a refreshed Fawkner Leisure Centre (Media Release)

Fawkner Leisure Centre is back open for business after undergoing a $1 million upgrade.

Moreland Mayor, Cr Natalie Abboud joined staff and locals to celebrate the Centre’s re-opening on Monday 22 July.

Cr Abboud said the Fawkner Leisure Centre upgrades were one of the first projects to be completed as part of Council’s 20-year Aquatic and Leisure Strategy.

“Leisure centres like Fawkner are important spaces in our community, and they are often a gathering place for people to connect and spend time,” said Cr Abboud.

“We want to ensure that our facilities provide a great experience for our community and are there for people to use for many years.”

The upgrades included a revamped foyer and reception area, new signage, paint works and replacement and improvement works to the pool.

“There are more improvements for Fawkner Leisure Centre still to come, including new treadmills and additional cardio and weights equipment, and new classes and services,” Cr Abboud said.

New classes coming to Fawkner Leisure Centre include Full Moon Meditation classes, Ladies Who Lift, new gym programs such as the Evolt 360 body scanner and myDNA, workshops on lifting techniques to accompany new gym equipment and small group training sessions.
